Russia was the only country in the UN Security Council to veto the resolution, which was sponsored by the United Kingdom.

Dodik, who is also the leader of the ruling party in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, said on Thursday that Churkin played an important role at that time and expressed gratitude to the late Russian representative.

Dodik said that the 2015 resolution would have condemned “Serbs as a genocidal people.”

"We remember two things here - the actions of the Russian Federation and what Great Britain wanted to do to us," said Dodik, arguing that the British, who have committed several genocides around the world in their history, tried to “shamelessly attribute genocide to Serbs.”
