The US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has once again taken to social media, questioning Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, and his family about the whereabouts of funds. This marks the fourth time the US Embassy has raised this question following the blacklisting of companies associated with Dodik's family, particularly his son Igor Dodik. Milorad Dodik has since responded publicly.
In his address, Dodik immediately criticized US Ambassador Michael Murphy, claiming he is only accepted in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Frustrated by his failures and the need to explain them, he now wants to take revenge on RS. Before arriving here, he announced actions regarding property that were contrary to the Dayton Agreement, which was a deal-breaker for our relations. No ambassador has brought as much personal bias into their role, wanting to be the main and only authority. In RS, he encountered complete resistance. Throughout his mandate, no one met with him except incidentally in Trebinje or Banja Luka. His tenure is marked by failure, having achieved nothing. The amount of lies propagated by the US Embassy recently is unprecedented. Previously, their communications maintained a degree of dignity and cultural respect, but now it has reached the lowest levels,” Dodik stated.
He also revisited the sanctions imposed on him, his family members, and companies close to the Dodik family, claiming they are based on lies.
“From my son, who does not own the companies sanctioned, jeopardizing many jobs, to ATV and UNA TV. These companies performed well, had reputable contracts with foreign firms that provided certifications for their operations, paid taxes and contributions, but were still sanctioned. Their performance wasn't the reason for the sanctions; it's because Murphy seeks revenge on RS and Dodik,” emphasized the RS president.
Dodik continued with severe accusations against the US ambassador.
“Murphy represents those willing to kill. US policy has often resolved issues worldwide in such a manner. The only thing left for him is to give orders and coordinate with their extreme services to take action. I believe he's capable of that. Fortunately, there are sensible people who won't allow it, but he seems the type to issue orders and demand liquidation,” Dodik asserted.
In response to the US Embassy's campaign questioning RS's finances, including an assertion that RS has incurred 1.1 billion KM in debt on the Banja Luka stock exchange, Dodik replied:
“They fail to see that RS has the lowest debt in the region, only 32% of GDP, and we have been reducing that debt relative to our domestic product. This often related to foreign loans we were forced to repay. What they deceitfully did was impose SWIFT obligations on banks to monitor their sanctions, meaning any bank wanting to use this international payment instrument must follow US sanction policies,” Dodik concluded.
