Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, spoke about the details of his meeting with US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar for the second time after he did the same on Thursday, but this time unveiling the transcript detail he initially said was "not for the public.”
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, when the meeting took place, Dodik said he had an “unpleasant conversation” with the US diplomat. Reading a part of the transcript, Dodik said Escobar told him: “I must tell you that the new sanctions for the Balkans are not only for those who politically obstruct the progress but also for those who benefit from that.
On Friday, Dodik unveiled his answer showing the transcript.
“F*** the sanctions. I already went through that. If you want to talk to me, then stop threatening me.”
He said this would be his answer to all those who threaten him with sanctions.
“I responded very precisely and clearly,” he added.
Dodik has been on the so-called black list of the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) since January 1, 2017 for his obstruction of the Dayton Peace Agreement and defying the Constitutional Court of BIH. To date, the sanctions on the Bosnian Serb leader have not been removed.
