Dodik's legal advisor Anto Nobilo confirms appeal against conviction

The legal advisor to Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, prominent Croatian lawyer Anto Nobilo, confirmed on Wednesday that an appeal will be filed against the first-instance verdict issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Speaking to reporters, Nobilo stated that the official written verdict has not yet arrived but assured that the appeal process will proceed. When asked by a FENA correspondent whether an appeal would be submitted, Nobilo responded briefly: "Yes, we will file it."
He apologized for not being able to provide further comments, explaining that he was on his way to a meeting with Dodik.
Nobilo was present in Banja Luka on February 26, the day the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered its first-instance ruling against Dodik. The verdict sentenced the Republika Srpska leader to one year in prison and barred him from holding office for six years for failing to implement decisions issued by the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Following the verdict, Nobilo argued that the trial was unfair and politically motivated, aimed at removing Dodik from office. He also stated that he would try to convince Dodik to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Dodik, for his part, previously claimed that he would not personally appeal the decision but acknowledged that his legal team might proceed with an appeal for professional reasons.
