President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, responded to statements made by the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Michael Murphy, who strongly criticised the Bosnian Serb leader, saying that his “vile, xenophobic, and bigoted rhetoric tears at the fabric of the country”.
Dodik noted that the US Ambassador said that a “peaceful disassociation” of the RS entity from BiH is a threat to the United States’ core interests in BiH.
Do Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats have the right to their own interests in BiH, or are only US interests important, and all three peoples should serve those interests? Do Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats have the right to make their own agreements? Whatever we agree upon is how it will be for us. Or do we need to be guinea pigs in someone else's experiment? Isn't all your wealth enough, so you want to take our little bit too?” Dodik posted on X.
He argued that “the greatest delusion of Bosniak politicians is that America wants to achieve the interests of the Bosniaks.”
“Our people say: ‘Someone else's hand doesn't scratch an itch.’ Austria didn't annex BiH to develop it, but to take everything that could be taken from there. As it was then, so it is today, only the protagonist has changed”, he wrote, arguing that the US only cares about its own interests and not those of Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats.
“Just as they didn't care about Iraqis, Syrians, Libyans, Egyptians, and Afghans, in whose countries they created chaos solely for their own interests. America has never given to anyone, it has only taken. I don't know why Bosniak politicians naively believe they are special and that something will be given to them. If anyone had illusions, Murphy dispelled them yesterday. Bosniaks, like Serbs and Croats, can achieve their interests only through mutual agreement,” Dodik wrote.
