“If confirmed, I commit to working closely with this committee and others in Congress to advance our interests in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina are critical to the U.S. goal of a unified, free, and peaceful Europe,” Jones stated. He emphasized the U.S.'s longstanding role in ending the war in Bosnia through the Dayton Agreement, which laid the foundations for peace. However, he noted, “Bosnia’s potential is often hindered by corruption, ethnic divisions, and political dysfunction.”

Jones pledged to use all available tools to defend Bosnia and U.S. interests, including sanctions and support for the Office of the High Representative (OHR). He stressed, “I am committed to countering internal and external malign influences, especially from Russia and China, which aim to destabilize Bosnia.”

He also highlighted the importance of the EUFOR Althea mission, stating, “It is crucial for the UN Security Council to renew the mandate in November, and for EUFOR to remain strong and capable in maintaining a secure environment.”

Jones addressed concerns about destabilizing figures like Milorad Dodik, noting the importance of continuing sanctions and supporting the High Representative's authority to maintain Bosnia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

In conclusion, Jones reiterated his dedication to ensuring Bosnia and Herzegovina’s security, stability, and path toward Euro-Atlantic integration, working with allies to protect U.S. investments in the region.
