Of the total investment, €90 million was allocated to green projects, including energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and decarbonisation. The EBRD has said in a statement these investments reflect its commitment to strengthening BiH's transition to a greener and more resilient economy.
One key project was a €40.1 million financing package for the Elektroprivreda BiH power utility to accelerate its transition to renewable energy. The EBRD highlights the country's first solar project in Gračanica, which further boosts renewable energy capacity in BiH.
The EBRD also allocated an additional €95 million to complete the Poprikuse-Nemila section, a critical part of the Corridor Vc highway that connects Budapest to Croatia's southern port of Ploce. The EBRD says this investment underscores its commitment to connectivity and economic integration.
The EBRD also supported BiH's recovery following last year's devastating floods by mobilising funds from the Special Shareholders Fund to aid the reconstruction of communities and infrastructure. Despite ongoing challenges, the EBRD remains committed to supporting the country’s economic development, focusing exclusively on projects that contribute to energy transition and environmental preservation.
Since it began operating in BiH in 1996, the EBRD has invested over €3.3 billion in 241 projects, focusing on sustainable development and economic resilience.
