The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, spoke on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the beginning of the siege of Sarajevo, pointing out that similar horrors are happening in Mariupol now.
“The siege of Sarajevo began 30 years ago. It lasted for almost 4 years and over 11,000 people died. Similar horrors of war are happening right now, east of us. Thousands of civilians were detained in Mariupol and other cities as a result of the brutal Russian invasion, many of whom died. We must not allow the war in Ukraine to continue as in the case of Sarajevo. And we must do everything to make Vladimir Putin and all those responsible for war crimes accountable for their actions,” Fiala said.
