A total of 26 persons has arrived and the remaining 11 are expected this evening, Bosnia's foreign minister Elmedin Konakovic said on Monday addressing the media at the Sarajevo International Airport, after the first group of Bosnian nationals and their families who were evacuated from Gaza arrived in the country.

“We timely conducted or security checks and any information could have made difficult the implementation of one of the most important processes. Further technical checks were carried out as well, the situation is completely clear,” he said, adding that registrations are currently underway.

He thanked Bosnia's ambassadors, Qatar authorities, the embassies in Qatar and Egypt, who made it possible to welcome the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their relatives.

Konakovic stressed that this is not the end of the process and that all Bosnian citizens will return to their homes.

“We have a system for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who contact the embassy and we have the right to issue humanitarian visas. We will not stop as long as every Bosnian and Herzegovinian gets out of Gaza and returns to BiH,” he underlined.

As for the accommodation of the returnees, minister of human rights and refugees Sevlid Hurtic said that they will all be sent to the Salakovac camp and that their all needs will be met.

“The most demanding part was to take them back home, now everything is easier when they are here,” he added.
