Nearly three decades after serving in Bosnia and Herzegovina as an officer of the Spanish Battalion of the UN peacekeeping forces, Salvador Andres Pelaez shared his memories from then war-torn country and said he wished he could get in touch with some of the people he had met in that period.
He posted a photo gallery on Facebook group ‘Bosnia Veterans’, where he is seen with children from the southern parts of the country, mostly in the towns of Jablanica and Mostar.
“The images that I show you show a series of children with whom I shared many days of games and little fun that I could provide them in their childhood,” he wrote.
The former UNPROFOR officer said he visited Mostar in 2018, 25 years after the mission but he could not locate any of them so he asked for help on social networks, hoping he could get in touch with them this way.
“A big hug to all of you who served helping to persevere in peace in that war,” he added.
