A collective funeral for the six of eight tragically deceased youths from south Bosnian city of Posusje, who died of asphyxiation on New Year's Eve, was held Monday.
The funeral was held at noon at the St. John the Baptist Church at Rakitno and it was led by Bishop Petar Palic. It was attended by the victims’ families, friends and Posusje residents.
“We came to Posusje to express our sincere sympathies with the families, parents, brothers and sisters of the deceased, but also with Posusje residents because this was not only an accident for Posusje, but for the entire country, and I'd say the whole world. In that sense, may they rest in peace,” BiH's Federation entity Prime Minister Fadil Novalic said at the funeral.
The youths are suspected to have died from gas poisoning from the power generator that was working inside the house when they were found by their friends.
The Federation entity declared January 4 the Day of Mourning and the same was done by the State level on January 1.
During Day of Mourning, Bosnian flags are raised at half-mast on all government institutions buildings and the conduct of any cultural or entertainment programme is strictly forbidden at public places.
