Bosnia's Federation entity, which makes approximately a half of the country's territory, could be deprived of gas supply by Monday evening if the failure on the gas pipeline through Bulgaria is not removed today or some other solution is found, said Almir Becarevic, former general manager of the BH Gas company, Bosnian gas supplier.
Speaking to N1, Becarevic said that the ongoing scenario is something he has been warning about for months.
“There are two streams leading to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is well-known who decided that the Turkish stream is our only supply. We are seeing the scenario that we have announced. So, if this failure is not fixed during the day or if some other options for the gas supply are not found, it is my assessment that the whole Federation will be left without the gas supply this evening, between 6 and 8 p.m.,” said Becarevic.
The ‘Energoinvest’ company reported the failure this morning and asked the users to reduce and rationalise the consumption or to switch to alternative sources of energy.
The gas supplier for the Sarajevo Canton ‘Sarajevogas’ said they would cut the supply for all those with alternative sources of energy until the problem is fixed.
