Several hundreds of pension recipients in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday held a protest outside the building housing the entity's government in Sarajevo to demand higher pensions.
The average monthly allowance in the Federation of BiH is €370, and pensioners today announced a massive protest for 3 October, after earlier in the day the relevant minister informed them that pensions cannot be raised, as this would undermine the entire system.
According to the official data, the Croat-Bosniak Federation has 546,178 employees and 450,169 pension recipients, and this ratio makes the entire system unviable.
Pensioners are going to hold protest rallies three days before the local elections, set for 6 October.
