Police have identified Adel Kabas, as the main suspect in the case of the murder of senior police officer in the northwestern town of Prijedor Radenko Basic, according to local media.
Interpol issued a red notice after Kabas in January this year for a murder in Sarajevo's Pofalici neighbourhood.
According to the Srpska.info web portal, Kabas is the main suspect for now and it is likely that the murder of Basic was ordered.
“The act of the execution and cold-blooded shot in the head of a man only confirms it was a professional murder. Apart from finding Kabas, it is very important to find out who ordered this murder,” an unnamed source told the web portal.
Kabas has never before been reported for crimes on the territory of Republika Srpska, Bosnia's part where the town of Prijedor is situated, but he was in Sarajevo where he is sought for a murder from December last year.
Basic, the chief of the local criminal police department in Prijedor, was shot minutes before 7 am in the Pecani neighbourhood as he departed for work.
