Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic and Vice President of Bosnia's Federation entity (FBiH) Milan Dunovic laid wreaths at the Eternal Flame memorial in Sarajevo downtown, marking the Victory Day and the Europe Day.
“Sadly, there is an impression on this Victory Day and the Europe Day that we in Bosnia and Herzegovina have never been further from Europe, and never closer to some fascist ideas,” Dunovic warned, adding that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina certainly do belong to European values – culturally and geographically, that they do belong to Europe and antifascist values-
Retrograde policies, he said, are trying to revive fascism but European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and antifascist values are going to win for sure.
This great day should not be observed only once a year, especially today, Dunovic stressed.
“Antifascism is a way of living and the values we need to cherish and transfer onto new generations,” he added.
Sarajevo mayor congratulated the Victory Day and stressed the necessity to cherish the tradition of antifascism.
“The peace, freedom, stability is something we need to continuously fight for,” she said.
The ceremony was also attended by BiH Presidency member Zeljko Komsic, who also conveyed a message on this day.
