The adoption of the Draft Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem in Bosnia's Republika Srpska (RS) entity aims to implement the declaration of the All-Serb Assembly to create a legal basis for playing and showing the official anthem and coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia in the RS as all-Serb symbols, the Office of the High Representative (OHR) told Fena news agency after the Draft of this Law was adopted by the National Assembly of the RS last week.
The OHR recalled that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina had already declared the same symbols unconstitutional that were then designated as the official coat of arms and anthem of the RS. The Court reasoned that these official symbols are in contradiction with the constitutional principle of collective equality of constituent peoples since they highlight the history, traditions, customs and religious and ethnic identity of Serbs, and impose such values on members of other constituent peoples, citizens and others living on the territory of the RS.
