Croatian Prime Minister on Wednesday announced the continuation of Croatia's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European journey and the accomplishment of the equality of the country's three constituent peoples, PM Plenkovic said in a post on X after meeting with HDZ BiH party leader Dragan Covic.

“We are continuing our regular dialogue and excellent cooperation with Dragan Covic. After the launch of BiH's EU accession talks, the priority is to ensure the political stability of BiH and step up reforms,” the post said, with Plenkovic stressing that the Croatian government supports BiH's European path and “advocates the equality of the three constituent peoples.”

Covic's office, too, reported about the meeting, noting that efforts were being made to secure political dialogue within the BiH Federation entity and the entire BiH, to speed up reform processes on the country's journey towards EU membership.

The statement from Covic's office also underlined satisfaction with the strong bilateral relations.

Earlier this week, the ruling BiH Croat, Bosniak and Serb parties reached an agreement at the state level on the country's budget, thus preventing a break-up of the ruling coalition. The adoption of the budget is a precondition for BiH to be able to start using funds under the EU's Growth Plan.

In late March this year, the European Council approved the opening of accession talks with BiH but no specific date was set.
