Pope Francis expressed his solidarity on Sunday with the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina affected by the catastrophic floods.
“I express my solidarity to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina affected by the floods. May the Lord receive the deceased into His embrace, comfort their families, and be support and assistance to those communities,” the Pope said in his address to the faithful after the Angelus prayer with worshippers gathered in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
The catastrophic floods on October 3 in the night from Wednesday to Thursday hit the area of Jablanica, Fojnica, Konjica, Kresevo and Kiseljak, in which 20 people have died so far.
Landslides and large amounts of rain caused enormous material damage to road infrastructure, houses and other facilities.
Numerous rescue teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and the world are on the ground and are searching the mentioned areas in order to find the missing persons.
