The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against five former members of the Military Police of the Zvornik and Bratunac Brigades of the Army of Republika Srpska for their involvement in the genocide committed in July 1995.

The accused include Rajko Milic (born in 1951 in Zenica), Miodrag Pavlovic, known as “Mijo” (born in 1957 in Kozluk), Radenko Zaric (born in 1965 in Bratunac), Vukasin Draskovic (born in 1973 in Zvornik), and Milan Tomic (born in 1967 in Loznica, Serbia).

According to the indictment, the five men participated in the capture and forced detention of over 829 Bosniak men and boys in the gymnasium of a school in Rocevic, Zvornik municipality.

“Miodrag Pavlovic is accused of killing several detainees using a bladed weapon, while the other defendants are charged with transporting and executing the captives at a gravel site on the Drina River in the Kozluk area,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.

The accused face charges of committing genocide under Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Investigations and court rulings, including those from The Hague Tribunal, have established that numerous Srebrenica detainees were transported by buses from Bratunac to the school in Rocevic, where some were killed. From there, they were taken by truck to the gravel site in Kozluk, where they were executed. None survived, and at least 800 people were killed.

To date, the remains of over 7,100 Srebrenica genocide victims have been found, while approximately 1,200 victims are still unaccounted for.

At the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Center, 6,765 victims have been laid to rest, while 250 have been buried in local cemeteries at the request of surviving family members.
