According to statistical data from the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, there was an increase of 10% in arrivals and 8% in overnight stays compared to the same period the previous year during the New Year holidays, from December 29 to January 2.

Based on hotel reservations, with an occupancy rate exceeding 97%, most guests came from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Turkey, and China.

Following the New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 30 and 31, the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board organized three free open-air concerts on January 2, 3, and 4 to attract more tourists and encourage longer stays.

According to statistical data, from December 29 to January 5, Sarajevo saw a 30% increase in tourist arrivals and nearly 23% more overnight stays compared to the same period the previous year.

Since Sarajevo hosted the longest New Year celebration, with five nights of free open-air concerts, the average tourist stay extended to 2.2 days. This richer offer marked a significant step forward in extending tourist visits.

“In addition to the data showing that we are on the right path regarding the growth and development of tourism, improving the tourist offer, and positioning Sarajevo Canton as a desirable tourist destination globally, we are especially pleased with the results of tourist surveys in Bosnian media, which include no negative feedback. Satisfied tourists are our ultimate goal. Our task is to meet the expectations of all who voted Sarajevo as the best tourist destination to visit in 2025 in a survey conducted by the esteemed National Geographic magazine at the end of 2024,” confirmed Haris Fazlagić, president of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board.
