The President of the Russian Football Union, Aleksandr Dyukov, said he believes that the friendly match between Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was the result of a controversial decision by the BiH Football Association, will take place in November as scheduled.
The match is scheduled for November 19 this year.
“At the moment, we have agreed in principle with the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the game will take place,” Dyukov told Sport-Express.
He noted that a number of BiH team members stated that they will refuse to take part in the match and that the composition of the BiH team for the match has not been announced yet.
“Of course, we would like to play with the strongest players,” he added.
“Such matches must be held to return our football to the international arena. We are waiting for the 10th of October when the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina will give the final answer. At the moment we are proceeding from the fact that the match will take place,” he said.
After the emergency committee of BiH’s Football Association voted to accept the invitation from Russia’s football association last month, some of the most prominent figures in Bosnia's football scene, as well as fans, have condemned the decision.
