As outlined in the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board's financial plan, 3.5 million Bosnian marks (€1.8 million) will be allocated to co-financing airline routes, making it the largest investment among all projects for the 2025 fiscal year. Haris Fazlagic, president of the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board, confirmed this initiative.

Previous investments in air transport amounted to over 1.268 million Bosnian marks (€648,000) in 2024, executed through subsidy programs and public calls, according to Fazlagic.

This year, Sarajevo will be connected to at least 39 destinations worldwide, with 28 different airlines offering flights. Routes will focus on major hubs in European countries that are key sources of tourism, including Turkey, Germany, Austria, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Switzerland, and Norway, as well as neighbouring Serbia and Croatia.

The expansion of air connectivity has mirrored Sarajevo’s growing popularity as a tourist destination, with direct flights now accessible to several major Asian cities such as Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Sharjah, and Manama, as stated by the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board.
