Brnabic stated that “Serbia is a ‘guarantor’ of the Dayton Peace Agreement”, that it respects Bosnia’s territorial integrity and that it is committed and open to the development of good-neighbourly relations and bilateral cooperation, which includes cooperation with both its central and with entity authorities.

Despite numerous claims by Serbian as well as Croatian officials to be the so-called “guarantors” of the Dayton Peace Agreement, no such role exists nor is it prescribed anywhere in the document. The two sides are, in fact, cosignatories of the Agreement which ended the war in the country, with obligations to abide by it.

“During the talks in the Government of Serbia, the Prime Minister noted, once again, that the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has continuously sent positive signals in previous years and that he continues with such a policy, at the same time emphasizing that security, stability and economic development are in the interest of the entire region,” the statement said.

“The High Representative agreed with the Prime Minister that the stability of the region and its economic development are extremely important and that he sees a sincere collaborator and partner in Belgrade,” the Government of Serbia said.

The Office of the High Representative announced that Schmidt also stressed Serbia's significant role and responsibility for the political stability of the Western Balkans.
