Students at the Sarajevo Faculty of Criminology and Security Studies, Valentina Vujicic and Sladjana Todic, who recently came under fire for expressing support for the Bosnian Serb war criminal Ratko Mladic and posting nationalist content online on the anniversary of the 1995 Srebrenica genocide, held a press conference in East Sarajevo where they announced that they will continue their studies in Belgrade, as they received scholarships from Serbia.
The director of the “Sarajevo-gas” company Nedeljko Elek said that, at the invitation of the director of the Security and Information Agency (BIA) of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, the two students will be continuing their studies at the National Security Academy in Belgrade.
“Sladjana and Valentina will be scholarship recipients of the State of Serbia and will be provided accommodation in the student dormitory, while the rest of the financial costs of the studies will be provided for by the company Sarajevo-gas,” said Elek.
The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously requested from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton material regarding the two female students.
One of them posted a photo on social media depicting herself using the three-finger salute, widely perceived as a provocation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other student posted a photo of Republika Srpska Army General Ratko Mladic on the day commemorating 28 years since the genocide in Srebrenica .
The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the Prosecutor's Office iis treating this case as a criminal offence of inciting national, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance.
