Serbian Prince Filip Karadjordjevic with his wife Danica and son Stefan visited the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sarajevo on Tuesday, where they walked through the historic centre of the Old Town – Bascarsija, after which they met with Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabro-Bosnia.
The Karadjordjevics stayed in Istocno Sarajevo, in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska entity, where they were hosted by Mayor Ljubisa Cosic. Prince Filip was in the municipality of Han Pijesak on Monday, where the residential complex of the Karadjordjevic family is located.
After the conversation with the Han Pijesak Mayor Slobodan Djuric, it was said that the renovation of the devastated summer house, which was made by his great-grandfather King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic in the early 1920s, will begin in early May this year.
For these purposes, the Municipality of Han Pijesak provided 350,000 Bosnian marks (some €175,000), the RS Government 150,000 marks (some €75,000) and the City of Istocno Sarajevo 50,000 marks (or approx. €25,000).
The residence will be renovated in the identical form in which it was built, and in addition to tourism, it will also be used for commercial purposes, and the Karadjordjevic family will have its own space that they will be able to use, the Mayor of Han Pijeska said.
