Italian airline SkyAlps has signed an agreement with Mostar Airport to establish a base and launch eight new flight routes from Mostar. The planned destinations include Rome, Munich, Catania, Palermo, Naples, Bari, Bergamo, Stuttgart, or Vienna.
Mostar Mayor Mario Kordic hailed this as a fantastic event, marking the first time in the airport's history that it has signed a basing agreement with an airline. “In the last three and a half years, we’ve witnessed tremendous growth, going from zero passengers to 40,000, six regular routes, and connecting Mostar to the rest of Europe and the world,” Kordic said.
The Federation of BiH contributed 345,000 KM to the project, while the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton government provided 2 million KM. Federal Minister of Transport and Communications Andrijana Katic celebrated the deal, calling it a “momentous day for Mostar” with positive implications for the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Airport Director Marko Djuzel announced plans for 65,000 passengers next year, with ongoing negotiations with another airline promising a record year. Future expansion plans include terminal development, runway improvements, and lighting upgrades.
A SkyAlps representative expressed gratitude, stating that their goal is to “connect Mostar with the world and the world with Mostar,” made possible by local government support.
