The Chief Prosecutor of the Federation of BiH (FBiH), Munib Halilovic, has announced the establishment of a special department under the FBiH Prosecutor's Office, dedicated to combating corruption, organized crime, and inter-cantonal criminal activities. Known as USKOK, the department is set to become operational by April 2025. Pročitaj više

Halilovic revealed that the department will be staffed by a head, seven prosecutors, and seven judges. Hrvoje Cabrajic has been appointed as the department's head, while additional recruitment for remaining positions is underway. Selected prosecutors, primarily from the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, will continue their current duties until transitioning to USKOK.

The department's offices have already been secured in a former Commercial bank building in Sarajevo, rented in October 2024. Halilovic emphasized that USKOK will handle complex cases, with cantonal prosecutors retaining jurisdiction over most other cases. Cases with existing indictments will not transfer to the new department.
The initiative fulfils a long-standing request from the European Union and it will focus on tackling organized crime, terrorism, constitutional violations, and high-level corruption. Halilovic noted the need for additional support staff and challenges in recruitment due to modest salaries.

“This department represents a significant step forward in addressing some of the country's most pressing legal and criminal challenges,” Halilovic concluded.
