Muhamed Avdic from Srebrenica shared his thoughts on the current situation in the city and the adoption of the Srebrenica Genocide Resolution in an interview with N1. Avdic described the heavy police presence in Srebrenica due to Milorad Dodik's visit, stating that it makes ordinary citizens feel insecure rather than safe.

“Policemen are here to make Milorad Dodik feel secure. When ordinary citizens see such a large number of police officers, we don't feel safe. The resolution is neither an attack against Serbs nor against coexistence. I believe that the victims of genocide deserve to be remembered in a dignified way,” Avdic said.

He criticized Serbia and Republika Srpska for glorifying war criminals and denying genocide, suggesting that if they had chosen a path of coexistence and reconciliation, there would be no need for a resolution. Avdic expressed his sorrow that, even after 29 years, he and many others are still searching for their loved ones.

“I am still searching for my father. Despite having official documents indicating that he was taken by RS police officers, these individuals were neither disciplined nor criminally charged. Unfortunately, they have chosen the path of denial, attacking coexistence and the lives of people here,” Avdic emphasized.

Avdic also commented on Serbia's opposition to the resolution, expressing his sadness over their choice to defend the actions of war criminals. “It is easier to live with sorrow and pain, knowing that your father was innocently killed, than to bear the burden of knowing he was a convicted war criminal or, God forbid, involved in mass killings,” Avdic concluded.
