The EU always emphasizes that the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order and international recognition of BiH must be preserved. All activities against those principles will lead to serious consequences," EU Foreign and Security Policy Spokesperson Peter Stano said, referring to the celebration of the unconstitutional "Day of Republika Srpska," which is celebrated on January 9, in that BiH entity.

Stano emphasized that the EU constantly asks all political parties to refrain from provocative rhetoric and activities, especially those in the RS that call into question the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the state.

Speaking of the legality of the “Day of RS,” he recalled that the BiH Constitutional Court has ruled twice, in 2015 and 2019, that the laws in RS on the “Day of RS” are not in accordance with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also underlined that regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations are very important principles for the EU in all countries that want to join it.

Stano noted that the consequences of questioning Bosnia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order can lead to serious consequences, adding that all decisions in that field must be made unanimously.
