The remains of three Bosniak victims of the 1992-95 war were identified on Monday and will be buried alongside other Srebrenica genocide victims in a mass funeral on July 11.
Bosnia’s Missing Persons Institute said the victims were identified as Meho Karahodzic (Visegrad), Salih Dzananovic (Podsoje – Srebrenica) and Husein Kurbasic (Vuckovci – Gradacaac), whose remains were found in mass graves in the Kamenica village, eastern Bosnia, in 2002 and 2008.
“The victims were first identified through the DNA method and then their identities were officially confirmed by the family members,” said the Institute.
The victims were killed in the Srebrenica area during the summer of 1995, the statement added.
The families gave the approval for their burial at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre on July 11 this year.
The Organising Committee earlier confirmed that 16 families agreed to bury the mortal remains of the Srebrenica genocide victims on July 11.
The 26th commemoration for the victims will take place under the restrictions imposed during the epidemic. Officials will not be allowed to attend but will have an opportunity to send a video message, which will be played on commemoration day.
