Tuzla Canton declares state of natural disaster due to floods

Due to heavy rainfall and the consequences it caused, a state of natural disaster was declared on Saturday, in the area of the Tuzla Canon and the municipalities of Celic, Sapna, Kalesija and Teocak.

The Federation entity’s Administration of Civil Protection stated that in the municipality of Kladanj, a sudden rainfall caused the water level of the Drinjaca and Ujca rivers to rise, as well as the local streams to overflow, as a result of which construction sites located in the very bed and near the Drinjaca river bed were damaged.

Road communications were also threatened by landslides, gravel and stone deposits on the roads and the removal of bulk material from the bumpers, as well as the flooding of agricultural land.

As a result of the heavy and sudden rainfall of the previous days, the water level of the rivers in the Sava basin rose and the streams overflowed.

The heavy rains also affected the rise in the water level of all rivers and streams in the area of Sarajevo Canton.

There was a minor overflow of the Bosna River on agricultural land in the area of Dobrosevici, in the municipality of Novi Grad, but no structure was threatened as a result of it.
