The embassies of the United States and the United Kingdom in Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected allegations by the president of the country’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, and said that his announcement that the RS is suspending all contact with diplomatic representatives of the U.S. and the U.K. i unconstructive. Dodik said on Friday that the ruling coalition in the entity decided to prepare a decision in the RS National Assembly and the RS Government on terminating all contact with U.S. and U.K. diplomats and embassies in the country. He accused the U.S. and U.K. of violating the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement.

“The statement of the president of Republika Srpska is confusing and does not contribute to anything. We completely reject the accusations made, which represent a bizarre attempt to divert attention from the real problems. Great Britain remains a friend of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will continue to work throughout the country for the benefit of everyone,” the British Embassy in BiH said in a statement to N1.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy commented on Dodik’s announcement in a Twitter post.
“Today’s announcement by the Office of the RS President was unconstructive and factually inaccurate. The U.S. will continue to stand with all the people of BiH as they work to strengthen this country and secure their rightful place in the Euro-Atlantic community of nations,” the embassy said.
