Serbia and the Serb-majority semi-autonomous entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska (RS), are on Sunday celebrating the "Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag", a holiday they established in 2020. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with elementary school students, teachers and municipal mayors from the RS and Montenegro and gave a speech about Serb unity which included criticism of Europe over the situation in Kosovo. Vucic said that “Serbs in Kosovo do not live in the conditions that the Europeans guaranteed with their signatures, but did not fulfill“.
He especially addressed the “brothers and sisters” in Kosovo and congratulated the holiday.
“They deserve it, they suffered the most and I know they will have to suffer a lot more. But they will always have their Serbia, their country and us who will stand with them,” said Vucic.
He argued that “history teaches the Serbian people that when they are together there are no obstacles they cannot overcome“.
“Let this day be a reminder that our strength is in unity and that like our ancestors in the past and in the future we will walk with our heads held high, ready to face any challenge“, he said.
“Serbia is your home, just as it is mine and the home of all of us“, Vucic told students and teachers from neighbouring countries.
“I welcome you with open arms and with great pride that you are here today to celebrate together what makes us one – our love for our people and our homeland,” said Vucic, addressing the children from BiH and Montenegro.
