Power has been lost across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In Sarajevo, trams have stopped and traffic lights are out. Many other cities, including Tuzla, Brcko, Banjaluka, Bijeljina, Mostar, and Zenica, are also without electricity.

Elektroprivreda BiH has issued a statement saying that the entire electrical system in Bosnia and Herzegovina has collapsed.

“Although the exact reasons for the system failure are not yet known, it is assumed to be due to overloads on the interconnected 400 kV power lines in the region, their failures, and the subsequent transfer of disturbances to the BiH system,” they said.

Restoration activities are underway, with efforts to relay voltage to hydro and thermal power plants and coordinated activities with the system operator (NOS BiH) to reconnect high-voltage network facilities in BiH and link them with neighboring systems, according to EP BiH.

Croatian media report that a large area of Dalmatia, including several major coastal cities, lost power at 12:25 PM.

A system failure in Montenegro caused a chain reaction, leaving Bosnian and Dalmatia without electricity.
