The World Jewish Congress announced on Thursday on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, that years have passed since the genocide, but that the pain is still present in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They called for the continuation of the commemoration of this "dark chapter in history".

“Today we commemorate the Srebrenica genocide and remember its victims, as 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were massacred by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995.

For years, WJC has been working with the Srebrenica Memorial Center and organizations on the ground to advocate for continued investigations, education, and memorialization of this dark chapter in history,” the Congress wrote on their Facebook page.

They also published a video stating the facts related to this crime from July 1995.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, as well as the courts in Europe, have so far convicted 48 people for the genocide in Srebrenica. Among them are Radovan Karadzic, former president of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, and Ratko Mladic, who commanded the RS army, the video states, adding that many of the victims remain unidentified to this day, and families have been unable to hold a proper burial for their loved ones.
