The exhibition "40th anniversary of the Winter Olympic Games - Sarajevo 84" was officially opened Monday night at the Olympic Museum, as part of the celebration of this important date for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Swiss graphic designer Markus Osterwalder held a lecture on this occasion. His presentation of the book “Olympic Games – Design” represents the laying of the foundations for the opening of the Olympic Library in the Olympic Museum.
Senka Ibrisimbegovic, the director of the Public Institution Sarajevo City Museums, said that in addition to the permanent exhibition, citizens have the opportunity to see posters and photos of the Olympic Games in Sarajevo and revive their experience.
”We presented the memory of the Olympic heritage in the form of posters from the photographs of the candidacy, the construction of Olympic infrastructure facilities, performances, arenas and competitions. We received these photos from citizens throughout the region,” she said.
The exhibition, she added, will be open until the end of February. She also announced open days from February 8 to 19, when the entrance will be free of charge for all visitors.
Swiss Ambassador to BiH Daniel Hunn recalled Sarajevo from 40 years ago and said that it was one of the greatest moments for the city.
”Those games were also important for Switzerland because we won two gold and two silver medals. I remember the Olympic Games very well. I was 20 years old then and watched the games on TV and cheered for our athletes in Sarajevo,” he added.
He said he is very proud that the Embassy of Switzerland supports Sarajevo in marking the 40th anniversary of the Winter Olympic Games.
