Scream for Me Sarajevo, a film by Bosnian author Tarik Hadzic, has commenced the world tour. The story about concert of a global rock star Bruce Dickinson in besieged Sarajevo in 1990s has been screened in more than 150 cinemas across the UK.
“This is more than a good film, a lot more. This is about humanity, dignity, courage.”
This was one of the many positive comments the film received after the UK screenings.
A former UN officer, Travor Gibson, who was part of the UN mission in Bosnia during the 1990s and who had assisted the organizing of the concert said for N1 that the film sparked incredible reactions.
According to him, the many forgot about what was happening in Bosnia and this story came at a good moment.
“I was always telling people that Sarajevo is not what they see in the news,” Gibson added.
“Scream for me Sarajevo” follows the arrival of the Iron Maiden’s frontman Bruce Dickinson in the besieged Sarajevo in 1994. The concert in Sarajevo’s Bosnian Cultural Centre helped the citizens to forget the horrors of war for a moment and it was a glimpse of hope, telling them that they were not forgotten.
