Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Defence Ministry published an advertisement for admission young members of Bosnia’s Armed Forces. This year the ministry plans to admit 815 units. The number of women applying for admission has drastically increased.

Head of the Department for Recruitment, Retention in Service and Reserves at the Defence Ministry Enes Hadrovic said that the advertisement aims to admit younger units thus maintaining the operative capability of Bosnia’s Armed Forces.

The admission plans for two classes: the 20th and 21st class. The first class will have 408 candidates and the second class will have 407 candidates.

According to Hadrovic, candidates who are admitted to professional military service will sign a three-year contract which can be extended by the age of 40. He adds that around 30,000 candidates applied for admission in the previous 19 classes. As in earlier years, 10 percent of all admissions are reserved for women.

“So far, we’ve always filled that quota but should there be more female candidates, that doesn’t mean they won't be admitted,” Hadrovic said, adding that there has been an increase in the number of women applying for membership in Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Hadrovic recalled that the first admission ad in 2008 saw only women’s 23 applications, today, this number has increased to several hundred.
