Sarajevo university plans to hire 150 teaching assistants in July 2018 who will be offered one-year employment contracts.
According to Sarajevo University Rector Rifat Skrijelj, the idea is that after the expiration of their contracts, these teaching assistants remain in the faculties they will be employed at as associate professors and full-time professors.
Sarajevo Canton’s Employment Office provided BAM 2.34 million (around EUR 1.2 million) to co-finance their employment.
Rector Skrijelj and the Cantonal Education Minister Elvir Kazazovic and Cantonal Labour Minister Amela Dautbegovic stressed that the most important goals of this project are to rejuvenate the teaching staff and to keep the educated youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canton Sarajevo.
Interlocutors said that this event has a great significance for the academic community and they announced similar projects in the future.
Canton Sarajevo is one of 10 cantons within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
