Former US President Bill Clinton will be an honorary guest of the gala dinner organized under auspices of the Advisory Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ACBH) in Washington on May 5.
Clinton will receive the ACBH’s “Lifetime Achievement Award”, along with former member of Bosnia’s Presidency Haris Silajdzic, retired US Army General Gordon Sullivan, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley Clark and others.
During the first term as the US President, Clinton deployed the US peacekeepers to Bosnia in late 1995, to uphold the subsequent Dayton Peace Agreement, which put an and to the Bosnian 1992-95 war.
ACBH Chairman Adnan Hadrovic said the Council worked hard on ensuring the US remained engaged and informed about Bosnia-related matters
“Our visibility and importance in the USA must always be maintained, the circumstances and needs are such,” said Hadrovic.
The Advisory Council is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the interests of Bosnian Americans and advocating for a united, multi-ethnic and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also works to improve relations between the US and Bosnia.
This organization, according to Hadrovic, works on encouraging of the Bosnian American community to get actively engaged in political processes that “Bosnia will undoubtedly benefit from in the long run.”
The gala comes in a moment when Bosnian public is expecting a stronger engagement of the USA in that county, especially due to more and more aggressive Russian policy towards Bosnia, emphasized Hadrovic.
According to him, this event will convey strong messages and this is going to be “yet another exceptionally successful event organized by the Council, which will contribute to a renewed stronger engagement of the USA in Bosnia.”
