Serbia sees Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) as a key partner in the region and supports developing relations with that country, President Aleksandar Vucic told a visiting BiH parliamentary delegation in Belgrade on Thursday.

Vucic told members of both houses of the Bosnian Parliamentary Assembly that Serbia and Bosnia have a common interest in revitalizing the infrastructure that links them, the presidential press service said in a statement, adding that the president told the parliamentarians that he spoke to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the construction of a Belgrade-Sarajevo highway.

“The road to a better future for the region leads through active cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest,” Vucic said. He said both countries have to work on developing their economic relations.

The Bosnian delegation said the two countries have an interest in reinforcing their cooperation and mutual support in European integration processes and regional cooperation. “The European integration of both countries is important to the economic progress of the Western Balkans region,” the delegation members said.

House of Representatives MP Mladen Bosic said this is the first time that all six members of the board of both houses of the Bosnian Parliament are travelling together which shows that the political situation is changing with everyone more interested in the future than in the past.

The delegation met earlier with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
