Bosnian high school students took part in the Spelling Bee Final Competition, an annual country-wide English contest sponsored by the US Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The winner of this year's competition was a Banja Luka student Branislav Celic.
More than 6,000 participants from 192 schools across the country entered the competition in March 2018, and finalists, who won the regional contest, gathered today for the final round.
“Spelling Bees” test students’ skills in spelling words in English. Because the English language does not follow consistent spelling rules – unlike Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian – the words can be famously difficult to spell.
