Young people who grew up and were educated abroad should return to Bosnia and help develop the society there, said a former student of the American University in Sarajevo and ex intern at the US Congress.
Edita Maric, 22, from Mostar told N1 she was very happy about the opportunity to work with congressmen and senators in Washington during her internship but the time had come to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina and apply what she had learned.
“I see the latest trend of young people returning, although the numbers are still low,” Maric said.
“I see the enormous energy of young people, entrepreneurs. You see the young people who just have graduated from high school and they already have great ideas,” she said.
However, Bosnia and Herzegovina lacks a strategy on how to attract its youth to stay in the country or to keep those who did return, she said.
“The current dysfunction has to end and if the youth will not initiate those changes, I don’t know who will,” Maric said.
