Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Defence Minister Marina Pendes said that Bosnia expects the MAP activation and that Bosnia has done a lot in the past 3 years when it comes to Bosnia’s NATO integration. Pendes added that Bosnia's two main foreign-policy goals are the NATO and the EU membership.
Speaking at the 2BS Forum on global and transatlantic security in Budva, she said Bosnia is clearly determined to continue its European and Euro-Atlantic integration process.
“When it comes to NATO, we’ve done more in the past three years, than we did ever before. We’ve made great success in terms of registering the prospective military property and we expect our partners to recognize that and that this will activate the NATO Membership Activation Plan for Bosnia,” Pendes said.
She recalled that Bosnia submitted its answers to the EU Questionnaire, intended to help the EU assess the situation in future candidate states before beginning the integration negotiations.
“We are not a NATO or EU member state, but those are our foreign policy goals. We expect Washington’s and the Brussels’ support for the progressive forces in Bosnia, in order to finish what we started,” she added.
Speaking about the possibly confusing statements coming from the Republika Srpska entity politicians on Bosnia’s NATO membership, Pendes said there is no clear consensus on that issue in the country, however, there is a clear consensus on Bosnia’s EU membership.
