Low-cost airline Ryanair will launch direct flights from Banja Luka to Stockholm, Brussels and Memmingen in October this year, the company's Sale and Marketing Deputy Manager Denis Barabas has said on Thursday.

According to Barabas, the company expects to fly some 100,000 passengers a year and to connect Banja Luka with some of 260 destinations that Ryanair flies to.

After the airports in Sarajevo, Tuzla and Mostar, Banja Luka has become the fourth Bosnian city that was connected by low-cost companies with European destinations.

Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska (RS), Bosnia's semi-autonomous entity, Zeljka Cvijanovic, said after a meeting with Ryanair representatives, that the citizens would benefit from this cooperation.

“These are the destinations that will have a sufficient number of passengers,” said Cvijanovic.

The flights from Banja Luka to these western Europe cities will be operating twice a week.
