N1 Television won the Adriatic Council Media Transformation Award on Friday in Ljubljana.

The Adriatic Council, founded in Berlin 5 years ago, is a political and economic think-tank discussing burning global issues, such as the consequences of Brexit, Russia’s growing influence in Europe, the migrant crisis, or the customs war between the US and Europe. On Friday, the Council awarded the most successful governments, companies and individuals in Southeast Europe.

The award for media transformation was accepted on behalf of N1 Television by the long time CNN journalist Brent Sadler, now chairman of the company’s editorial board.

“This is a very important award for us to pick up at N1. Why? Because, just 3 and a half years ago, N1 didn’t exist. We’ve become, tried to become, one of the most influential media outlets in the region,” Sadler said, accepting the award.

“We don’t intend to rest on our laurels, or indeed our awards. We continue to evolve, we’ll continue to strive for better journalism every day that we’re working out of our studio,” Sadler added.

The government of the Republic of Slovenia has been awarded the most successful at the Conference Beyond 4.0 in Ljubljana, because of the country’s successful economic and digital transformation, which on the one side, emphasises ecological standards, environmental protection, and health, and on the other, achieves high growth rates in fast-growing digital and technology industry sectors.

The only Croatian winner of the awards for technological progress was Josip Maricevic, winner of the Beyond Leaders award. He is a programme engineer working on the development of cryptocurrency technology, and also the founder of one of the most successful Slovenian companies, Tolar.io.

The discussion at the conference focused, among other topics, on the new digital age and how well-prepared the countries were for the development of new technologies, but also on the protection of the users’ privacy and security.
