The Alliance for Changes, a coalition of parties representing Bosnian Serbs at the state-level authority, announced on Sunday it would switch the name into the Alliance for Victory as of today until the general election taking place this October.
One of the coalition leaders and leader of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) Branislav Borenovic told reporters the lists of candidates, as well as the candidacy of their candidate for Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, have been registered under this name.
“We’re convinced in their absolute victory and we will prove in the following 78 days this is a great victory of (the Republika) Srpska, and that our candidates will responsibly, seriously and professionally lead the Republika and be our representative in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Borenovic.
The Alliance for Changes, now the Alliance for Victory, is currently opposition in the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Bosnia’s Serb-dominated part. Just like in the previous election, their main opponent for the positions at the entity and state levels will be the candidates of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), led by current RS President Milorad Dodik, SNSD’s candidate for the Bosnia’s Presidency.
The opposition’s candidate for the RS president and leader of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) Vukota Govedarica said he believed in the Alliance’s victory.
“As a future president of (the Republika) Srpska and together with the coalition partners we will be working on creating a responsible government, which will work in the interest of citizens, and we will return the trust in institutions,” said Govedarica.
According to the candidate for Serb member of Bosnia’s Presidency, Mladen Ivanic, enthusiasm and political experience of the Alliance’s candidate for the RS president is much better combination than what SNSD’s candidates have to offer.
The general election in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been scheduled for October 7 and the citizens will be able to cast their vote for the state tripartite presidency, entity presidents, as well as the members of the state, entity and cantonal parliaments.
