There can be no progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina until all three of its constituent peoples are equal, Croatian Foreign Minister Marija Pejcinovic-Buric said on Wednesday in the Bosnian city of Mostar.

“Only a government which legitimately represents all three constituent peoples and the Constitution is equipped for social, economic, and cultural development,” Pejcinovic-Buric said in Mostar, where she attended the presentation of the book “Above the line”, by Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite presidency, Dragan Covic.

In order for Bosnia to move forward, it is crucial to restore trust between the three peoples, she said.

Croatia pays special attention to Bosnia on its path to EU membership, she said, adding that “Croat people are the driving force behind the European Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a guarantor of its European future.”

The book is a collection of Covic’s speeches he delivered before the UN Security Council, European Parliament and the Holy See over the last 15 years.

The speeches are a clear testimony of my dedication to a stable, European, and “united Bosnia”, which must strive for finding common ground instead of looking for all that divides us,” Covic said, adding that he was certain that Bosnian Croats would achieve equality in their homeland.

The general election campaign in Bosnia started on September 7, and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina will cast their votes on October 7, electing three members of Bosnia’s tripartite presidency, as well as members of state, entity, and cantonal parliaments.

Dragan Covic is once again the candidate of the Croatian Democratic Union BiH (HDZ BiH) for the Croat presidency member.
