Nine Bosnian parties spent BAM 2.1 million (around EUR 1 million) on TV and print media ads, from the beginning of the general election campaign to date, Transparency International (TI) said in their report. They added that 10 parties spent more than BAM 2 million (around EUR 1 million) on 430 election rallies.
In total, political parties in Bosnia have spent just over BAM 8 million (around EUR 4 million) and the biggest spenders were the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) who spent some BAM 430,000 (around EUR 215,000 million) and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) with BAM 380,000 (around EUR 190,000).
The Democratic Action Party (SDA) spent some 310,000 (around EUR 155,000), the Democratic People’s Alliance (DNS) spent around BAM 258,000 (around EUR 129,000) and the United RS Party spent nearly BAM 233,000 (around EUR 116,000).
Then come the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) who spent around BAM 240,000 (around EUR 120,000), the Victory Alliance (formerly known as the Alliance for Change) spent some BAM 143,000 (around EUR 120,000), the Alliance for a Better Future (SBB) spent nearly BAM 104,000 (around EUR 52,000) and the Social Democratic Party said they spent BAM 26,000 (around 13,000).
According to TI’s report, the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) only had four recorded ads.
When it comes to the number of rallies, the SNSD had the most – 87 in total, whereas the PDP had only 12. the most active politicians were the Serb-dominated, Republika Srpska entity President Milorad Dodik and Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic, as well as the Bosnian tripartite Presidency member Dragan Covic.
Bosnia's general election will be held on October 7.
