The Serbian Chetnik Movement will pay €60,000 to whoever brings Sarajevo activist Nihad Alickovic to them, because of his alleged attempted murder of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Potocari, near the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica, and his alleged violent behaviour outside the Hague Tribunal, Serbia’s Kurir daily wrote on Sunday.

The daily wrote that the Chetnik movement held an emergency session on Friday, where they issued a warrant for Alickovic saying that whoever brings Alickovic before the Chetnik court will receive a € 60,000 prize within 48 hours.

Alickovic told N1 that this is scandalous and that he plans to seek protection from Bosnian authorities.

“As far as I could tell, their warrant says I should be brought to them, but the Kurir daily wrote they put a price on my head,” Alickovic said.

“I received a million threats, but to use a public media outlet in this way is inexplicable to me. This is literally a prise game. There will be people who won't just see this as a scare, but they will see it as an opportunity to earn those €60,000,” he added.

“I want the Presidency to discuss this,” he said, asking how is it possible for someone from the neighbouring country to put a price on someone’s head.

The alleged assassination attempt on Vucic happened in 2015 when the Serbian President came to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, where Serb forces killed some 8,000 Bosniak men and boys in July 1995. During his approach to the seat in the Potocari Memorial centre, many people started throwing water bottles, shoes and even rocks at Vucic, forcing him to flee to safety.

Bosnian police authorities launched an investigation into the incident, but no one was apprehended and no information on the investigation was ever made available to the press.
